What’s Next for Spider-Man and The MCU?
As you may know by now, Spider-Man will no longer be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Disney and Sony were unable to agree on financial terms to keep Peter Parker fighting next to Tony Stark and company.
Obviously, this has been a major blow for the fans of the saga, especially considering the vast success Marvel accomplished with the first wave of the MCU-related movies, like The Avengers Saga. Now that Spider-Man will no longer be a part of this saga, things are looking kind of cloudy for the beloved character, considering Disney was in complete creative control over the films and its stories, so turning the script around may be kind of complicated for their producers. Still, Kevin Feige’s insights as the saga’s director may be more than enough to take the franchise right on track, as he’s completely taken Spider-Man back from the ground following the Andrew Garfield fiasco. Tom Holland had won the hearts of Spidey’s fans since his first appearance with the MCU and everybody was looking forward to seeing him next to Marvel’s superheroes, after the franchise’s agreement for their first 5 movies ran out.Apparently, both sides had only agreed on 2 solo films for Spider-Man plus 3 appearances on Avengers movies, so now that both parties have decided to part ways, what will the future hold for Peter Parker? Luckily for most fans, Tom Holland and Kevin Feinge actually confirmed that the franchise’s films will continue in the foreseeable future, but they will no longer be sponsored and produced by Disney.
On the bright side, Sony Pictures will now be in complete creative control of the story, so they shouldn’t hesitate to bring some of their very own characters into Peter Parker’s story, as well as creating their own cinematic universe around Spidey. For example, now that they’ve started making Venom films and Carnage is likely to make an appearance at some point, it wouldn’t be crazy to think they could also include Tom Holland and his charismatic Peter Parker along the way as well. Also, we all know that Morbius is going to have his own movies, with Jared Leto as the main star. Hence, perhaps this would be an opportunity for Peter Parker to stand out against several different villains and win a lot of ground in the comic book film industry.
Nonetheless, if Sony wants these movies to succeed, they must entirely focus on Spider-Man as their main character, as the franchise has proven to be a massive success during the last couple of years.
Still, several people believe the feud between Sony and Disney will eventually be solved, while others claim this is nothing but another marketing stunt to make people go even crazier about the saga. Whether that’s true or not, we Spider-Man fans can rest pleasantly with the certainty that we haven’t seen the last of Tom Holland’s adventures in the big screen yet, so stay tuned for updates.
